FFA’s ag marketing team in top 18 PDF Print E-mail

The Imperial FFA ag marketing plan team of Sam Haarberg, Tyler Oxford and Blair Hartman earned a silver medal at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY last week.
The team was in the top 18 of all ag marketing plan teams in the nation.
In addition, four Imperial FFA members earned their American Degrees. They were Trevor Oxford, Michaela Ketter, Jared Knobbe and Alexa Bernhardt.
To earn the American Degree, an FFA member must keep a record book concerning their proficiency, or work experience, earn community service points and earn and invest $7,500 in their FFA experience.
Imperial FFA took in a tour of Churchill Downs during the Oct. 30-Nov. 2 convention, watching horses work out, and also toured the museum on site.
During work sessions, the students heard speeches from Lt. Joe Torrillo, a New York City Fire Department employee who was buried twice during the 9/11 Twin Tower collapses; Rick Pitino, University of Louisville basketball coach; Josh Sundquist, a US Paralympic Ski Team member and author; and US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
About 55,000 people attended the convention. FFA helps young people develop business and leadership skills.
