The theme of the three winners of the First Annual Imperial YouTube Video Contest was basically the same—children.
Abby and Sam McNair came up with the winning video, which was a compilation of their girls playing in Imperial. Abby spliced together videos the couples had taken of their children at the fair and around town.
The McNairs scored about 900 movie views of their video, of a total of about 1,500 overall hits. They received $1,000 in Chamber Bucks.
Second place went to Trisha Moreno, with a video of a wedding dance with children dancing. She received $500 in Chamber Bucks.
Third place, and $250 Chamber Bucks, went to Rachel Maxwell with a video of children shooting basketball in their backyard.
About 20 people attended Imperial Infinity last Thursday to view the videos and learn the winners.
Jason Tuller, Community Development Director, said the purpose of the contest was to highlight Imperial, showing things that can be done around town.
There were four videos entered in the contest.
Tuller hopes the contest will be held again next year. It is funded by the Citizens Advisory Committee and the City Council.
“I think people were afraid to enter this year,” he said, “because they didn’t know what we wanted.”
