The annual pumpkin fun run is just that, according to organizer Jill Moline. Instead of a race, “It’s just because it’s fun. People can even walk,” she said.
The fun run begins Saturday with registration at 7 a.m. at Cox’s Ponds. Registration is $18 for adults, while children are free.
The 10-mile race begins at 7:30 a.m. and winds through Champion and a number of hills, Moline noted.
The three-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m., while the kids’ race begins about 9:15 a.m. Prizes will be awarded at about 10:15 a.m., and drawings will be held.
All participants will receive stocking caps and ear bands, Moline said.
In the past a 5K race has been held instead of a three-mile run, but Moline said the 5K was always a little short, so the decision was made to call it a three-mile race.
Besides registering the day of the race, interested persons may register at Imperial Super Foods prior to Saturday. Questions may be directed to Moline at (308) 882-5389.
