In their first games of the season last week, Chase County’s JV softball team picked up a pair of wins from Wray, Colo.
Unfortunately, the Lady Longhorn varsity team was idle the past week, except for the one inning they got in before Friday and Saturday’s Scottsbluff tournament was called due to rain.
Coach Denise Smith said it was disappointing to say the least that her team’s five varsity and two JV games in Scottsbluff weren’t played.
“We were all disappointed. We expected to be competitive there,” she said Monday.
They also had a large contingent of parents and fans who traveled to Scottsbluff for the weekend.
The tournament will not be rescheduled.
