Dan Lenner’s Chase County Longhorn football team came up short at Sidney Friday, falling to Red Raiders 13-32.
That evens the Longhorns’ record to 1-1 with an always tough Chadron coming to town Friday.
The Sidney game took a toll on the line, with the Longhorns losing two more players.
Khris Kuhlman suffered a high ankle sprain and is questionable for this week.
Luis Rodriguez injured a knee Friday and left the game. He’s unlikely to see action this week and may be lost for the season.
They join linemen Eli Engbrecht who tore an ACL in the Longhorns’ opener against Gordon-Rushville.
Lenners said his team’s biggest challenge will be to fill the holes in the line. One of those changes includes moving senior Justus Wallin out of the backfield into the line.
Wallin played in the line last season so is no stranger to the position.
With those injuries in the line Friday, running the ball became tough, forcing the Longhorns into the air.
Lenners said his team dropped some passes that should have been caught, compromising the Longhorns’ vulnerability even more.
