On Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. MT farmers are invited to attend the 2013 Sorghum Field Day in Trenton at the Mike Baker Farm, four miles north of Trenton on Hwy 25.
At this program there will be plot tours with sorghum seed representatives there to share hybrid information, ethanol plant representatives to discuss new market opportunities and UNL Extension to present sorghum agronomics and pest management strategies.
Nebraska Grain Sorghum Board Member Kevin Janicek said the Trenton Field Day, one of five planned across the state, will also include a visit from a  bird seed manufacturer from Akron, Colo., who is interested in purchasing milo from local farmers.
Each location will also offer a free meal to participants.
At the meal program, Ag West will feature a market outlook and sorghum checkoff staff with an update on research and market development projects. There will also be a yield guessing contest and a drawing for door prizes.
Participating seed companies include Arrow Seed Company, Channel Seed, DeKalb Seed, Fontanelle Seed Company, Gayland Ward Seed, Mycogen Seed, NuSeed/Richardson Seed, Pioneer and Sorghum Partners.
