Wheeler family receives over $2,300 in IVFD, community donations PDF Print E-mail

People of the community had the opportunity to donate to the Bruce Wheeler family at the annual Fireman’s Family Fun Day July 4. There, a fireman’s boot was set up to collect donations for Travis, who is being treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Prior to the 4th of July, members of the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department (IVFD) voted to match, as a group, up to $1,000 of any funds donated by the public to the family. The firemen received $832 at the Fun Day for the Wheeler family, and at the next IVFD meeting, the firemen passed the hat and raised another $500. The combined $1,332 was added to the $1,000 matching IVFD funds from the group and $2,332 was given to the family.
