She didn’t have to go far to find a student teaching job. Brittany Pofahl of Grant is student teaching at Chase County Schools this semester.
Starting in kindergarten with teacher Arlys Cupp, Pofahl will then spend 10 weeks in special education with Linda Lakey.
She will graduate from the University of Nebraska-Kearney this December with a degree in elementary education and special education.
The daughter of Tim and Connie Pofahl graduated from Perkins County High School in 2009.
After lifeguarding one year, Pofahl has managed the swimming pool in Grant since she was 16 years old. She likes being around younger children.
“Definitely the younger ones, kindergarten to second grade,” she laughed. “They’re easier to work with.”
Pofahl hopes to feel more comfortable with her students while student teaching. While taking classes at UN-K, she visited many classrooms.
It will now be nice to see how one school system works, she added.
