Steve Smith of Imperial submitted the winning photo in the fifth annual “Images of Nebraska” photo contest sponsored by the Chase County Hospital Foundation.
Smith, a native of Chase County, won the contest with his entry titled “Champion Mill After Rain,” which featured the historic landmark located in Championa.
The grand champion award comes with a check for $100, which Smith graciously donated back to the Hospital Foundation. Smith also received second place in the Nebraska Division and honorable mention on several other photos he entered.
Alice Dubs of Ashby, Neb., earned reserve xhampion with her entry titled “Fall Colors on Blue Creek,” which provides a colorful image of Blue Creek as it flows through the prairie.
Director’s Choice went to Stephanie Rau with her photo titled “Frosted,” which displays a water hydrant, fence line and prairie grasses after a visit by Jack Frost.
The “Images of Nebraska” photo contest was developed for the purpose of promoting Nebraska and southwest Nebraska in general, along with providing an activity to involve the hospital with the community. The Hospital Foundation typically accepts entries during July of each year and then selects the winners in August.
“We received 100 entries from 18 photographers. I want to thank all individuals who submitted photos and helped us with another successful year,” stated Randy Vlasin, executive director of the foundation.
