Melissa Larson jumped into her new position as administrator of Imperial Manor/Parkview-Heights Friday. She is busy reviewing procedures and becoming familiar with the Imperial facilities.
A native of Manilla, Iowa, Larson most recently lived in Scribner. She was the administrator of Golden Living Center in Tekamah until moving to Imperial.
Larson was also a CNA, medical aide and business office manager at Golden Living, for a total of eight years.
Prior to that she served as administrator at Arbor Manor in Fremont for several years.
Larson took time off in between the positions to care for daughter Ellie, 11, and son Tyler, 8. Ellie will be in the sixth grade and Tyler in second grade at Chase County Schools.
Larson graduated from Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla High School in 1992. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in health administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
She received a Masters of Science degree from Clarkson College in Omaha in health administration, where she also obtained her CNA and medical aide licenses.
Larson took over the administration duties at Imperial’s senior care facilities from Sandra Palmer, who moved back to David City to work at an RHD facility. RHD also administers the Imperial facilities.
The new administrator enjoys volunteering and being involved in her community. She was on the Scribner City Council prior to moving to Imperial.
