Mobile Food Pantry serves 93 families PDF Print E-mail

Ninety-three families from Imperial, Enders, Champion and Benkelman were served by the Mobile Food Pantry Tuesday afternoon, an effort of Catholic Social Services (CSS), St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Kearney Food Bank. Local coordinator Bill Sullivan said it was well-received and food ran out by 4:30 p.m., a half hour before the two-hour event was to conclude. Families received frozen meat, bread, rolls, pasta, canned goods and cereal. Volunteers such as Lynn Luhrs and Mercedes Hauxwell, below at left, help families go through the line. At left, Tom Schik, CSS west regional director, gives volunteers directions before opening. This is the second time the past year the Mobile Food Pantry came to Imperial. (Republican photos)
