Failure in the steering equipment was likely the cause of a one-vehicle accident Tuesday about 5 p.m., four miles west of Imperial of Highway 6.
A 1998 Pontiac four-door sedan driven by Victor Alvarez Turcious, 33, of Holyoke, Colo., was eastbound when he lost control. Sheriff Kevin Mueller said the car veered off the road into the north ditch and struck a driveway before coming to rest. It did not roll, he said.
Two passengers in the vehicle, including a child, were taken by Imperial EMS to Chase County Community Hospital, where they were treated and released, Mueller said.
The vehicle sustained about $800 in estimated damages, Mueller added.
