Ty Spickelmier finishes ninth at national finals PDF Print E-mail

Ty Spickelmier of Imperial capped off a successful high school rodeo season last week, finishing ninth in the nation in tie down roping.
The National High School Finals Rodeo was held last week in Rock Springs, Wyo.
In the first go, Spickelmier dropped and tied his calf in 14.63 seconds which put him in 42nd place in the 96-roper field.
In the second go, he came back with a time of 10.48 to finish 14th in the go and make it to the short go Saturday night.
There, he turned in a 10.25 to finish fifth in the short go and  ninth in the average with a total time of 35.36. The winning time in the average was 27.09 turned in by a Mississippi cowboy.
As a team, Nebraska cowboys and cowgirls finished 10th overall in the national finals.
