Three Chase County Schools seniors recently created a work of art that won them second place in a “Paint-In” contest at McCook Community College.
Edgar Almanza, Jeremy Mathews and Sean Langin created a recycling piece after being given a theme of “Answers for the Environment,” or “go green.”
Teacher Chelsea Zuege said the trio took all the supplies she brought along, such as paper towels, newspaper and tissue paper, as well as glue and tape, to make the piece.
It was completely different than the other 16 schools’ creations, she said, as it was three dimensional.
The students involved were given tempera paint and paper to work with. The CCS students even used the paint containers in their creation.
The team was given a trophy and individual ribbons.
Zuege said she usually takes a larger team of Art 4 seniors, but several were involved in other activities that day.
The contest was held March 31. McCook High School took first place.
