About 15 persons attended a Comprehensive Plan Community meeting in Imperial June 27, to discuss future land use development ideas and goals. Those include commercial, residential and recreational uses.
The group, under the guidance of two representatives from Miller and Associates of McCook, divided into two groups. Their mission was to build a “roadmap to 2024.”
The groups discussed potential areas for residential and commercial development, types of businesses that Imperial could sustain, traffic patterns and more.
A report compiled by Brenda Jensen and Craig Bennett of Miller and Associates showed an annual growth rate percentage of .45 from 2000-2010. That projects into a population of 2,210 in 2025.
The report also showed a total of 912 housing units as of 2011, with a vacancy rate of 9.3 percent.
This was the second of four meetings to discuss the future of Imperial, sponsored by the city. The next meeting will be held in September. Public input is appreciated.
