With a convincing win over Paxton last Tuesday, 19-6, Imperial’s junior girls’ softball team finished the regular season with an unblemished 8-0 record.
That takes them into the league tournament Saturday in Wallace as the No. 1 seed. The single elimination tournament will all be played on Saturday.
As the top-seeded team, Imperial plays its first game Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. MT against the winner of the No. 4/5 seeded game that morning. The consolation and championship games are later in the day.

Regular season finale
Hosting Paxton July 2, Imperial got off to a slow start but quickly made up for it as they finished with a big 19-6 win.
Coach Heidi Wheeler said her team again struggled with Paxton’s younger and slower pitching, affecting their success at the plate.
Imperial did have a small 8-6 lead after two innings, but pulled away in the third when Sarah Allen tripled with bases loaded, followed by a double from Katelyn Wheeler, three walks, capped with a triple from Peyton Fiedler.
Imperial finished with 11 runs that inning to win easily on the 12-run rule.
Triples were recorded by Allen, Fiedler and Josie Peterson; doubles were hit by Wheeler, Kadyn Milner and Whitney Hopp; and singles were credited to Kelly Christensen (2), Destiny Reinke, Peterson and Fiedler.
Peterson started on the mound for Imperial, picking up two K’s, while Milner came in on relief, striking out one.
