DPT shots available to adults PDF Print E-mail

The medical field has been realizing that whooping cough immunizations, part of the DPT shots, don’t last over time.
Chris Tomky of the Chase County immunization clinic said grandparents and others whose pertussis shots have faded can pass whooping cough on to babies who haven’t yet received all of their immunizations.
“We’ve seen an increase of whooping cough recently,” she noted.
It’s her goal to “catch everyone up on” the DPT shots, which include tetanus and diphtheria vaccines, too.
Therefore, an adult immunization clinic will be held July 13 at the Chase County Community Hospital specialty clinic beginning at 9:15 a.m.
Persons must make an appointment, Tomky stressed.
“If you don’t, you will wait,” she cautioned.
The clinic is for those who don’t have insurance or for those whose insurance doesn’t cover immunizations.
“If your insurance covers vaccines, go to the Chase County Clinic,” she stated.
The immunizations are free to those who don’t have vaccine coverage.
If there are questions concerning coverage, Tomky urges people to call their insurance provider.
