In an effort to reduce the use of paper, Adams Bank & Trust of Imperial has been promoting e-statements. As a result of the success of the campaign, Imperial is one tree richer.
In April 2012 the bank promoted the use of e-statements rather than printed copies of statements for one month. In that one month, 191 account holders changed from paper to paperless.
The goal had been 80 changeovers, so the bank was happy with the results. Since the goal was reached, the bank agreed to purchase a tree for the city.
Mary Wilson of Adams Bank said “The number of e-statement users has continued to climb as consumers are aware of the benefit of this product and the convenience of it.”
“What we wanted to do was bring awareness of what happens to the environment from all the printing we do as consumers, from not recycling, getting a printed copy of your statement, etc.,” Wilson added.
