A woman who knows her way around animals has joined Veterinary Services, bringing the number of vets to four. Darcy Moreland joined the practice June 1, following graduation from veterinary school at Colorado State University May 16.
Moreland, who grew up on a ranch near Haigler, enjoys working with large animals such as cattle and horses.
“I wanted to do something with the animal industry,” she said of her decision to enter vet school following graduation from CSU in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science.
Her senior year of vet school was her most enjoyable one. “It’s when you finally put everything together, all the things you’ve learned, and get to see patients,” she explained.
Moreland has a quarter horse, Dan, who she hopes to bring up from Haigler. She and husband Blake also have two dogs: Walter, a silver Labrador, and Bailey, a Golden Retriever.
She hasn’t had time for hobbies lately, but enjoys horses, being outdoors and Enders Reservoir.
Moreland hopes to contribute both to the animal industry with her work at Veterinary Services, and with the Imperial community.
A 2005 Wray (Colo.) High School graduate, she is the daughter of Glenda Brown and Bernie Brown.
