Senior girls’ tourney played in Benkelman PDF Print E-mail

Imperial’s senior girls’ softball team was undefeated with a 7-0 record going into their last regular season game Tuesday this week.
They hoped to be taking an 8-0 record into their league tournament this Saturday in Benkelman. Games start at 9 a.m.
Tuesday’s game this week against Benkelman was a make-up contest started on June 13 when just an inning and a half was played, then postponed due to weather.
In two earlier games this month on June 11, Imperial’s seniors took easy wins.
Games against Benkelman and Wauneta were played the same night.
In the  opener, Imperial took a 24-3 win versus Benkelman.         Recording hits were Jodi Koellner, three singles; Cheyanne Kuhlmann and Jasmine Laird, two singles each; Claire Kuenne, single and triple; Anna Bauerle, single and homerun; and one single each from Cassie Burpo, Emma Bauerle and Abbi Vetter.
Koellner received the win, giving up no hits, walking seven and allowing three runs. Kuhlmann was credited with the save, striking out three and walking two.
Against Wauneta in the nightcap, Imperial took another big win, 18-2.
Credited with hits were Abbi Vetter, double; Cheyanne Kuhlmann, two singles; and Ally Vrbas, a single.
Kuhlmann was awarded the win, giving up no hits, striking out two and waling four. Bauerle got the save, striking out two with no walks.
