A close look at raptors during SCORE outreach program PDF Print E-mail

An outreach program for the public last Wednesday headlined by HawkQuest of Parker, Colo. brought a variety of raptors for an up-close and personal look. SCORE science camp students and a number of area residents at the program in the Longhorn gym were introduced to a Great Horned Owl, above, and a Harris’s Hawk, below, as well as a bald eagle. Jeanne Bernard, above, and Barbara Walton handled the raptors and explained the importance of  these birds of prey in the world’s ecosystems, as well as discussing their individual characteristics. HawkQuest was founded in 1986 by Kin Quitugua, a master falconer and environmental educator. Their programs reach hundreds of thousands of people each year in the U.S. through such educational programs as last week’s at SCORE. (Republican photos)
