Spickelmier, Wood, Doetker qualify for state rodeo finals

Three Chase County Schools students will compete in the Nebraska High School Rodeo finals to be held June 20-22 at the Adams County fairgrounds in Hastings.
Ty Spickelmier, Kelsey Wood and Jordan Doetker will all be competing next week in an effort to qualify for the national finals in July.
The regular spring rodeo season concluded over the weekend with rodeos at Mitchell, Harrison and Crawford Friday through Sunday.
The top 30 in each event qualify for the state finals. The top four individuals in each event at the state finals will qualify for nationals. The finals will be held July 14-20 in Rock Springs, Wyo.
Spickelmier will be looking for a repeat trip to nationals in the tie down roping, going into the state finals in third position. He is standing eighth in the team roping.
Wood qualified in four events. She goes in 21st in the barrels, 23rd in the breakaway roping, 27th in the team roping and 29th in the poles.
Doetker goes into the finals of the girls cutting in ninth place.
