Senior girls’ softball opens with victory against Wauneta PDF Print E-mail

In their first game of the season, Imperial’s senior girls’ softball team defeated Wauneta 12-0 last Thursday.
Coach Denise Smith said the team is competing in the Tri-County South League. Just two other teams, Wauneta and Benkelman, have a senior girls’ softball team this year.
At last Thursday’s game, pitcher Anna Bauerle got the win in the four-inning game with eight strikeouts and two walks. She did not allow a hit.
Offensively, Imperial tallied 14 hits in the shortened game.
Singles were recorded by Sydney Vetter and Cheyanne Kuhlmann; Emma Mollendor and Charlie Carter both had a pair of singles; Abbi Vetter, single and double; Ally Vrbas, two singles and a triple; and Anna Bauerle, two singles and a triple.
Imperial hosted a double header with Benkelman and Wauneta Tuesday this week, and will be in Benkelman today (Thursday) for another game.

June 13—Benkelman vs. Imperial, 6 p.m.; Imperial vs. Benkelman; Wauneta vs. Imperial, 7:30 p.m.; Wauneta vs. Benkelman.
June 20—Benkelman vs. Wauneta, 6 p.m.; Wauneta vs. Imperial; Imperial vs. Wauneta, 7:30 p.m.; Benkelman vs. Imperial.
June 29—Tournament in Benkelman, 9 a.m.
