It’s time to make waves! The City of Imperial Municipal pool is open for the summer.
The pool opened Memorial Day, with hours 1-5 p.m. every day.
Night swimming begins June 10, from 7-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Pool Manager Shanna Carter, now in her third year in charge, said the weather hadn’t cooperated so far, producing cool breezes and lower afternoon registrations.
“It’s been pretty steady, though,” she said Friday of the swimming numbers.
Swimming lessons will be offered June 17-28 and July 15-26. Registration is in progress for the classes.
Sessions will be limited to a specific number of students. When the class is full another session must be chosen.
Swimming lessons cost $20, and no refunds will be offered.
Water aerobics and lap swimming began Monday. Session times are 8:30-9:45 a.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. The cost is $35 for water aerobics and $25 for lap swimming. No children will be allowed in the pool area during water aerobics.
The 2013 pool daily rates are $4/day for those 12 and over and $3/day for those 11 and under.
Season passes are $100 for a family and $50 for a single.
A babysitter age 14 or older may be added to a family or single pass for an additional $10.
Children ages six and under must be accompanied by someone age 14 or older.
Pool party rates are $25 per hour with a two-hour limit, plus $7 per hour per lifeguard, with one lifeguard for every 10 people.
Carter said the temperature must be 70 degrees for the pool to open. This will be determined at the discretion of the lifeguards.
