Mid-Plains’ Watz Up Wednesdays announced

Fifteen different classes have been organized by the Imperial campus of Mid-Plains Community College for youngsters and youth this summer.
Watz Up Wednesdays “give children another alternative for something to do,” according to Coordinator Brenda Ledall.
Last year there were about nine classes offered. This year, Ledall said, Mid-Plains wanted to “reach out to more age groups.” In addition, this year there will be both morning and afternoon sessions for some of the classes.
This is also the first time afternoon classes have been offered.
“We didn’t do a lot of athletic classes this year because we didn’t want to compete” with softball, etc., Ledall noted.
Classes include: Play in the Dirt; Creative Planters; Bicycle Safety; Shape Up Your Bicycle; Cookie Mania; All About Cupcakes; Paper Folding and Design Techniques; Coaster Craze;
Moola Smarts; Manage Your Dough; Archery; Creative Explorations with Art Journals; and Prairie Grass Common to Chase County.
Most of the instructors are local. In fact, members of Imperial FFA will be conducting the Prairie Grass class.
Information concerning dates, times, ages of students and cost are included in the Watz Up brochure.
Brochures were handed out to students at Chase County Schools. They were also mailed with City of Imperial utility bills.
However, extras are available at the Imperial Extended Campus, or may be accessed at the Mid-Plains Community College website under Imperial Extended Campus.
The campus is located at 1324 Broadway. Information may also be obtained by calling 882-5972.
