The Chase County Schools auditorium buzzed, boasted and jazzed during the past week, as elementary vocal concerts were held.
Last Thursday students in grades K-1 presented “Bugz,” a musical play by John Jacobson and John Higgins.
Swarms of ants, lady bugs, fireflies and more attended a picnic and learned to play together.
Following that, grades 2-3 presented “Tall Tales and Heroes” by Grace Hawthorne and John F. Wilson, where heroes such as Molly Pitcher, George Washington, Pecos Bill and more dominated the stage and history.
On Monday night, the fourth grade students presented jazz through song and recorders, followed by grades 5-6 continuing the jazz theme with a number of jazz standards.
Jody Liess is the K-6 elementary vocal music teacher.
