Field day adds to fun in final week of classes PDF Print E-mail

It was a windy day, but Monday’s field day for grade K-6 students at Chase County Schools was a barrel, or maybe a sackful, of fun. Above, first graders, from left, Caleb Richman, James McArthur (hidden), Braxton Maris, Katelyn Stamm, Kevin Dannatt and Jason Nelson participate in the sack races. Other events included a cart wheel race/hula hoops, shoe fly, 50 and 75 meter dashes, ball hug race, an obstacle course, long jump, horseshoes, golf ball on the spoon race, three-legged race, soccer dribble and tug-of-war. Students in grades K-3 participated in the morning, and the afternoon field day was reserved for grades 4-6. The event has been organized the past three years by elementary teachers Jodie Schuller and Angie Dickey, with volunteer help from parents and other teachers. Classes at CCS concluded Wednesday this week. (Republican photo)
