College grads conclude another life chapter
It’s May, and that means college commencement and graduation exercises.
Several young men and women with ties to Imperial are among the Class of 2013 at their respective college and universities.
Ed Kaiser graduated April 27 with a Master of Science in Nursing Degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus.
The title of his thesis was “Upper Respiratory Infections: A Patient Focused Educational Tool.”
He is currently employed as an R.N. at Bellevue Medical Center, but has accepted a new position as an E.R. Nurse Practitioner at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he starts employment this summer.
He and his wife Lindsey live in Omaha. The 2003 Chase County High School graduate is the son of Max and Joni Kaiser of Imperial.
Darrin Schultz received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography with high distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on May 4.
Beginning in June, he will be working with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), a collegiate ministry that serves college students across the country. He will serve as a Varsity Catholic missionary within FOCUS, working primarily with student-athletes.
The 2007 graduate of Chase County Schools is the son of Nick and Jan Schultz of Imperial.
Jacob Joseph Mathews
Jake Mathews graduated May 4 from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
The son of Tod and Diane Mathews was a 2008 Chase County Schools graduate.
Hilary Wilson, the daughter of Bill and Kim Wilson of Benkelman, graduated Magna Cum Laude May 4 from Chadron State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in food and nutrition through the Family and Consumer Sciences Department.
The 2009 Dundy County-Stratton High School graduate is in the process of applying for jobs.
Tabitha Jane Russell
Receiving a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center May 3 was Tabitha Russell.
The daughter of Dan and Teresa Russell is currently applying for positions in her field.
She was a 2008 Chase County Schools graduate.
Marilyn McDaniel received her Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) from Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte May 10 during a pinning ceremony.
A nurse’s aide at Chase County Community Hospital, McDaniel will be a registered nurse there upon passing her state boards.
She and husband Eric have two children.
Jason Purdy, son of Jerry and Tina Purdy of Imperial, graduated from Grace University in Omaha May 11 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. He was granted membership into Delta Epsilon Chi, sponsored by the Association of Biblical Education.
Purdy attended Imperial Grade School from kindergarten through seventh grade, then graduated from Perkins County Christian School in 2000.
He is associate pastor at Plattsmouth Bible Church, and resides in Plattsmouth with wife Erin and three children.
Tracy Rowley Metz
Tracy Metz, daughter of Dan Rowley and Cathy Rowley, both of Imperial, was honored as Outstanding Student during the University of Nebraska-Kearney Honors Convocation May 2. She graduated December 2012 from the College of Business and Technology.
She and husband Brian of Pleasanton have two children.
Jason Burke received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical College of Pharmacy in Omaha May 4. The son of Cheri and John Burke of Imperial is a pharmacist at Grant Pharmacy and Holyoke (Colo.) Pharmacy.
The 2004 Chase County High School graduate received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2009.
He and wife Whitney (Paisley) reside in Imperial.
