Imperial Manor has been celebrating National Nursing Home Week—May 12-18—in several ways.
Balloons have been launched. Staff at the Manor have been wearing crazy things all week, such as pajamas on Monday, crazy hair/hats on Tuesday, sports shirts on Wednesday, mismatched and backwards clothing on Thursday and t-shirts and jeans on Friday.
A potluck meal will be provided on Friday.
Mayor Dwight Coleman was also slated to sign the proclamation printed below.
WHEREAS, the number of elderly and disabled Americans is dramatically increasing;
WHEREAS, all citizens are affected by the past and present contributions of America’s elderly and disabled people;
WHEREAS, we salute our community’s citizens now residing in nursing facilities, many of whom planted the seeds that made our community grow and prosper;
WHEREAS, nursing facilities provide caring and supportive services that make quality of life possible for our loved ones;
WHEREAS, member facilities of American Health Care Association and Imperial Manor are providing a host of activities in observance of National Nursing Home Week, guided by this year’s theme Team Care, Everyone Pitches In, beginning on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2013.
THEREFORE, do I, Dwight Coleman, as Mayor of town of Imperial, proclaim the week of May 12-18, 2013 as National Nursing Home Week. I urge all citizens to visit friends and loved ones who reside at Imperial Manor and to help honor and serve the individuals who laid the foundations of Imperial by participation in this year’s observance of the week at Imperial Manor.
