The traditional Chase County Schools colors of orange and black will be mingled with silver when the seniors walk down the aisle Saturday. Those are the colors of the Class of 2013, graduating when the ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m.

Graduation will be held in the Longhorn Gym, and will include the processional, speeches, a photo show, music and the recessional.

Twenty-nine seniors out of a class of 31 will graduate. Secondary Principal Mike Sorensen said this was a small class, but not as small as the Class of 2010, which had 26 graduates.

Valedictorians are Bethany Sorensen and Spencer Hartman, who both have 4.0 grade point averages.

Salutatorian is Abby Polly, with a 3.981 grade point average.

The class flower is an Orange Ranunculus. The class motto is taken from Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Of the Class of 2013, Sorensen said, “Overall I’ve liked this class. They’re a pretty good bunch of kids.”

He added “They seem to be high-achieving, and provide good leadership.”
