A special presentation came Wednesday morning during the Chase County Schools’ senior class meeting, with a resounding “we want you back” message.

Members of the  senior class, which will graduate Saturday, were presented mailboxes from the Imperial Community Foundation Fund donors.

On each of the full-sized mailboxes were the messages,  “Always remember your roots!” and “Your hometown cares!”

The senior’s name was also printed on both sides.

Elna Johnson and Lori Pankonin, members of the foundation advisory committee, were on hand for the presentation.

Pankonin noted the foundation and entire community are proud of the soon-to-be-graduates.

While the area has experienced great crop prices as of late, Pankonin added, “But, you are our best crop.”

She extended the foundation and community’s best wishes for their future, adding they should know if they ever choose to return to their hometown,  “We would welcome and love that.

“We care and do want you back,” she said.

The Imperial Republican also placed a copy of the recently-published Chase County Schools Class of 2013 special section inside the mailbox.

Pankonin noted the seniors might like to use the mailboxes immediately this weekend on their graduation reception tables for their cards.
