Kasselman wins St Pat’s golf tourney, team finishes third PDF Print E-mail

Sophomore Freddie Kasselman topped the field last week at the North Platte St. Pat’s golf invite held at Iron Eagle.

Kasselman earned medalist honors with a 38 on the front nine and followed that up with a 39 on the back side for an 18-hole total of 77.

He edged Cambridge’s Caleb Moyer, who finished second with a 78.

Teammate Ryan Moline earned eighth place with a 90 after losing a playoff for seventh.

Their two scores, along with a 98 from Curtis Laird and 102s from Tyler Jennings and Cody Cochran, helped earn the Longhorns a third place finish with a 367.

Cambridge won the meet with a 362.

The team competed at the Cozad invite on Monday but results were unavailable.

The Longhorns finish the regular season at Ogallala this week with districts set for Kearney’s Meadowlark Hills on Monday, May 13.

Teams competing in the C5 district include Ainsworth; Bayard; Bridgeport, Chase County, Dundy County-Stratton, Franklin, Gordon-Rushville, Hershey, Kearney Catholic, Kimball, Mitchell, North Platte St. Patrick’s, Perkins County, Southern Valley and  Valentine.

In jayvee action last week, three boys played at the Southwest invite held at Cambridge. Sam Haarberg led the trio with a 47-53=100. Darin Knobbe shot  52-50=102 followed by Sam Cahow with a 53-59=112.
