More Little League boys needed for summer baseball

Right now, registrations for summer Little League boys’ baseball are lower than normal.
Summer Recreation Director Bruce Peterson said just 25 Little League boys’ registrations have come in so far, enough for just two to three teams.
Normally, by this time, there are more than 40 players signed up. For the past several years, Imperial has fielded four Little League boys’ teams.
Peterson is putting out a plea for those players who might be out there and have not yet turned in registration forms.
It will be necessary to get forms in by Tuesday, April 30, so teams can be drafted later next week. Little league boys’ games are set to start on Monday, May 27, he said.
The age range for Little League boys is eight to 11 years old as of May 1, 2013.
Registration forms are available at the city office or Imperial Super Foods. Peterson can be contacted directly for a form at
Peterson reminds all parents and players that April 30 is the deadline for registration for all other teams, as well. Imperial offers baseball and softball programs for youths from T-ball age (5-7) through high school.
Two Little League girls’ teams
After a meeting Monday night, Peterson said Imperial will have enough players for two Little League girls’ softball teams this summer and they will be competing in the Tri-County North League. Games will be played Tuesday and Thursday nights, starting May 28.
Other teams in that league include Wallace, Paxton, Sutherland, Grant and possibly Hershey.
