Electric car breaks down during competition at Grand Island PDF Print E-mail

The Chase County Schools Power Drive team suffered another disappointment when its car experienced mechanical difficulties and broke down after two laps at a rally in Grand Island Saturday.
Callin Ledall and Cody Cochran were unable to fix their electric car, and thus were unable to complete their heat.
The students plan to fix the car and attend the state rally in La Vista May 4.
Science teacher Kim Wilson said, “Their goal is to compete for the entire hour and also in the maneuvering and braking competitions.”
The car was built from a kit supplied by Nebraska Public Power District and Omaha Public Power District. Many local businesses and individuals also donated to the project.
The team was racing at the Grand Island Officer Training Academy this past weekend.
Two other races have also been experienced by the duo. In the first, their car wasn’t ready to run, and in the second, their battery went dead.
