Seven applications have already been submitted for the K-6 elementary principal position opening at Chase County Schools.
Advertisements for the position started last week on state educational websites. Two of the current applicants are from out-of-state and five from Nebraska.
K-6 Principal Pat Lane tendered his resignation last week at the April 9 board of education meeting, citing health concerns with daughter Molly, a fifth grader.
School Supt. Brad Schoeppey said they expect to start setting up interviews for next week. After “paper screening” of all candidates, he said they’d likely interview three to four applicants.
The school will continue to take applications until someone is hired, he said.
Lane’s resignation is effective June 12, the end of his 2012-13 contract.
