Beginning school is an exciting time for both youngsters and parents.
Because of that, Chase County Schools has set aside nearly an entire day next week for Kindergarten Roundup.
Elementary Principal Pat Lane said Friday, April 26, will be dedicated to next year’s kindergartners with activities from 8:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., including lunch.
During the school day April 26, incoming kindergartners will participate in learning activities, get to know the teachers and go through pre-screening assessments.
After youngsters are dropped off at the main office doors, Principal Lane will conduct a short meeting with all parents in the auditorium at 8:50 a.m. It’s expected to last about 15 minutes, he said.
He will discuss with parents the registration process, curriculum, school calendar, expectations and activities during the school year.
Children can be picked up later that day at 2:15 p.m.
Parents should arrange to have the $2.25 lunch paid at the office beforehand for Kindergarten Roundup day, unless they have other children in school and a lunch account is established.
Parents of expected incoming kindergartners for 2013-14 have received letters from CCS about the roundup.
Any parents not planning to send their child next fall, or who did not receive a letter and their child will attend, are asked to contact the school at 882-4228 and visit with Sherri Wheeler.
