Winter not letting go yet PDF Print E-mail

It’s almost like Ol’ Man Winter waited until after spring arrived to let local residents know he wasn’t finished yet. The first day of spring came last Wednesday, March 20, and just two days after, Imperial and much of the state were hit with blizzard-like conditions. In Imperial, official snowfall measured 4.5 inches overnight Friday and Saturday. The wind accompanying the storm helped give some unusual shapes to these icicles at this home’s overhang on East 5th and Leach Sts. The grill and outdoor furniture, below, weren’t likely be used for a cookout last weekend or early this week, either, with the cold temperatures that followed. The first snow hit overnight Friday, so it did not affect Chase County Schools operation. However, Saturday’s opening high school track meet of the season was postponed as was the annual Easter Egg Hunt. (Republican photos)
