The bright orange paint on the former Smokin’ Leroy’s  Barbeque restaurant at 12th and Wellington Streets is proclaiming the new “Tequilas” restaurant. It will open the second week of April, according to owner Miguel Esparza.
In Imperial Tuesday to continue renovating the restaurant, Esparza said the business will be open 11 am. to 10 p.m., offering lunches and dinners in traditional Mexican food.
A full bar, featuring margueritas, will be in place, with yellow and orange tables with a Mexican motif dotting the eating area.
A fence outside will hold chairs for those wanting to enjoy their drinks outside while waiting for dinner, Esparza said.
Kitchen staff have already been hired, and wait staff will be hired locally, he said.
Esparza, who with wife Gabriella Hernandez, owns a Tequilas in McCook, said they may expand the area of the restaurant in Imperial in a year or so.
