A snowstorm that hit overnight Friday postponed the opening high school track meet for the Longhorns.
Chase County was scheduled to open the season on Saturday at the Don Stine Invitational in Cambridge. Due to forecasts that put the snowstorm at 90 percent prompted officials to call off the meet early Friday.
Chase County coaches indicated Cambridge is looking for replacement dates.
The focus this week turned to the Ogallala Invitational scheduled for today (Thursday). Field events start the day at 11 a.m., with a 12:30 p.m. start for running events.
The Ogallala meet will include several Class B schools with quality track programs. It is one of the top meets of the season for the Longhorns.
Ogallala’s meet this year is being held on Thursday due to Easter weekend.
