The crowd wasn’t big at the second annual Chili Cook-Off in Imperial last Thursday night, but those present had fun.
The temperature outside was about 70 degrees, and the temperature inside was mild to hot.
Twelve contestants offered chili to the public free of charge following judging.
First place went to Carolyn Lee of Imperial, second place to Rex Messersmith of McCook and third place to Angie Paisley of Imperial. All received Chamber Bucks from the Imperial Chamber of Commerce, contest sponsor.
The first place winner’s name will be engraved on a traveling trophy.
People’s Choice went to Lorraine Messersmith of McCook with a mild chicken chili soup.
Recipes will be published at a later date.
Chamber President Jana Pribbeno said she hopes to see more people attend the event next year. The cook-off was held in the Imperial City Gym.
