10 golfers out for 2013 season |

By Russ Pankonin The Imperial Republican This year’s Longhorn golf team numbers 10 players who are preparing for the team’s first meets April 2 at Bayard and Benkelman. Coach Larry Munger’s team will be led by sophomore Freddie Kasselman, who qualified for the Class C state tournament as a freshmen. Munger will be looking to fill the other spots on the varsity squad after graduating four seniors from last year’s team. Four juniors and five other sophomores will be vying for varsity slots. The juniors include Sam Haarberg, Curtis Laird, Sam Cahow and Cody Cochran. Sophomores include Darin Knobbe, John Fegley, Tyler Jennings, Allan Smith and Ryan Moline. The team has been practicing for two weeks, working around some inclement weather along the way. This year’s schedule is as follows: April 2—Bayard Invitational April 2—JV-Dundy Co./Stratton Invitational April 9—Lexington Invitational April 11—JV-Med Valley Invitation-al April 13—JV-V Chase County Invitational, ELGC April 16—Perkins County Invitational April 18—JV-Southwest Invitational, Cambridge April 23—Garden County Invitational April 26—JV-V SPVA Conference, Sutherland April 30—Creek Valley Invitational May 2—JV- N.P. St. Pat’s Invitational May 6—Cozad Invitational May 7—JV-Sutherland Invitational May 9—Ogallala Invitational May 13—District Golf May 21-22—State Golf
