Ogallala pair wins first annual baker style bowling tournament

Don and Trey Evans of Ogallala took first place in the 1st annual Chase County baker style doubles bowling tournament held at Imperial Lanes Saturday, March 2.
The flighted tournament was organized by Alex Marshall of Imperial as a fund raiser for the Chase County High School bowling team.
Marshall said the event was an overwhelming success, drawing a total of 15 teams and raising $500 for the school bowling program.
The two-person teams bowl alternate frames throughout the tournament.
Teams bowl three games to determine flighting or handicapping for the tournament.
After the flighting is complete, teams bowl another three games for a tournament total.
Over the six games, the Evans team scored 1,265 to take first in the championship flight.
Kelen Fortkamp and Rick Jens of Imperial took second in the top flight with a pin total of 1,222.
In the first flight, the team of Lori Rowley and Terry Yost of Imperial took first with a total of 895. John and Roxanne Miller of Imperial finished second with an 894.
In the second flight, Kelly and Lori Beard of Imperial took first with a score of 725. They were followed by Brent Bussell and Lori Sis of Imperial with a 723.
High game honors went to Fortkamp and Jens, who combined for a 286. They also captured the most consecutive strikes title with 10.
The Evans team won the high series over three games with a 636.
Jerry Rowley and Cherie Maline recorded the low game of 83 with Robert and Robert Engel, Jr., tallying the low series of 289.
