The public is invited to attend a meeting March 12 concerning a possible reduction in hours for the Champion Post Office. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at the Champion Community Center.
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is holding the public meeting to obtain the views of postal patrons, and to explain any changes.
The changes are being made in light of the USPS’s fiscal deficits. Post offices across the country are either being closed or reduced in the number of hours they are open.
A similar meeting was held concerning the Enders Post Office in November. The hours at that post office were reduced from six to two hours per day starting Jan. 26.
Brian Sperry, regional spokesman for the USPS from Denver, said a final decision concerning the hours at the Champion Post Office will be posted one week after the March 12 meeting.
However, he said late last year that the feeling is to reduce the hours from eight to four  hours per day.
