Sandhills Symphony Orchestra rehearsing March 17 concert |

Those of Irish descent and those who would like to be want to attend the St. Patrick’s Day concert put on by the Sandhills Symphony Orchestra in North Platte. The free March 17 concert will begin at 3 p.m. CT in the North Platte High Performing Arts Center. Theme for the program is “A Touch of Green.” Selections will include music from “Three Irish Pictures” by John Ansell; “Green Fields” by Ferry Gilkysen, Rich Dehr and Frank Miller; as well as “Londonderry Air” and “Danny Boy.” Carmen Allen of Maxwell is conductor. Three Imperial residents are members of the orchestra, including Marlea Thompson on flute, Cathy Howard on viola and Sherri Schoenholz, who plays both clarinet and bass clarinet.
