Wrestling has its ups and downs PDF Print E-mail

There’s always a range of emotions at a kids’ wrestling tournament. It was no different in Imperial Sunday, as the Chase County Club hosted its annual tournament in the Longhorn gym. Above, six-year-old Tanner Roenfeldt isn’t quite sure he likes the position he’s in, while wrestling his teammate Clay Meeske in their opening match at the tournament. Later on in the afternoon, at left, Logan Mendenhall has his arm raised by the referee after defeating his opponent from Ogallala. Below, Phoenix Barnes takes a breather on his dad, Charles Barnes’ shoulder after he won his opener against a Holyoke wrestler. A total of 105 wrestlers were registered for the tournament from Ogallala, Wauneta, Dundy County, McCook, Holyoke, Colo., Sedgwick County, Colo., and Denver. A report on the local wrestlers’ placings is in this week’s sports section. (Republican photos)
