The Longhorn gym will be full of young wrestlers Saturday as the Chase County Wrestling Club hosts its annual youth tournament.
Wrestling will start in the CCS Longhorn gym at 9 a.m. Youngsters age kindergarten and older will be competing during the day.
Shawna Rusher, tournament coordinator, said nearly all 40 youths in the Chase County Club are expected to wrestle Saturday, which will mark their first meet of the season.
The Chase County youths have been practicing since mid-January, she said, and are ready for a meet.
Wrestlers winning their weight class Saturday will be presented T-shirts and a medal. Second and third will take home medals, she said.
Youths can still register for the meet by today (Thursday). Rusher has forms, and can be contacted at 308-883-0353.
She also said they won’t turn anyone away on Saturday, but they should be at the gym by 8:30 a.m. Forms will be available there.
The Chase County Wrestling Club will be serving concessions throughout the day. Proceeds go back to the club.
