Parents of children wanting to play baseball, softball or soccer this summer should start thinking about registration.
Early deadlines for the three programs are just weeks away, according to coordinators of the summer programs sponsored by the city of Imperial.
Soccer registrations are due March 1, while the early deadline for baseball and softball is March 4.
After those dates, the registration fees rise significantly per player.
Soccer is available to youths age four to 18. The fee per player is $30 for up to two children in the same family. After that, fees for third, fourth and more children are $20 each.
After the March 1 deadline, the fee increases $15.
The soccer fee pays for a shirt, socks and insurance. Parents of children new to the program must also provide a birth certificate copy with registration.
Coordinator Bruce Peterson said soccer practices will start in mid-March, with matches beginning the last Saturday of March, and running through the first weekend in May.
For the baseball and softball programs, the early signup deadline is March 4. The fee is $20 per player for T-Ball and the little league teams. The early fee is $30 for traveling teams including junior and senior softball, and baseball Pee Wee and Legion teams.
After March 4 but before April 1, the baseball and softball fees increase $5, with another $5 increase added for forms in after April 1.
Peterson said baseball and softball games get underway in late May for youths age five and older.
Forms were distributed at Chase County Schools this week, and are also available at the city offices.
Forms for all programs should be returned to the city office. Checks for both should be made to the Imperial Baseball Softball Association.
