May, Lueth continue to medal for wrestlers PDF Print E-mail

The Chase County wrestlers came home with a 15th place finish out of the 19 teams that attended the Medicine Valley Wrestling Invitational.
Individually, Michael May brought home a third and Jake Lueth, a fourth, for the team. Both wrestlers advanced to the semi-finals before losing and being sent to the consolation semi-finals.
May dropped a 6-2 decision to Dundy County/Stratton’s Tyrell Reicherdt, sending him to the consolation semi-final to face Austin Simkins of Stapleton-McPherson County.With just one second left in the first period, May secured the pin advancing to the consolation finals.
Mark Hanson of Perkins County was to be his opponent in the finals. However, Hanson had reached his five match limit and was forced to forfeit the match. May had defeated Hanson earlier in the tournament, 6-3.
Lueth faced eventual champion Isaac Bergquist of Southern Valley in the semi-finals, losing by pinfall in 1:31. Lueth bounced back and beat Isaac Hueftle of Eustis-Farnam, 4-0.
In the consolation finals for third and fourth, Lueth was pinned in 3:37 by Ty Contrerez of Medicine Valley for fourth place.
Caleb Bubak was not allowed to wrestle due to a skin irritation and Hunter Dillan, David Almanza and Khris Kuhlmann were unable to secure a victory in the tournament.

This week will wrap up the regular season for the Longhorn wrestlers as they travel to North Platte St. Pat’s today (Thursday) for the SPVA duals starting at 12 noon MT.
Saturday, Feb. 2, is the final meet before districts, hosted by the Southwest Roughriders in Bartley. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. MT.
Districts will be held in Southern Valley on Feb. 8-9 for a chance to travel to Omaha for the state meet.
