Chase County Schools will host the annual Longhorn Speech Invitational Saturday, with the first round of speeches beginning at 8:15 a.m.
CCS Speech Coach and Invitational organizer Jill Bauerle expects a low turnout for the meet, as some schools aren’t back in session until next week.
As of Wednesday she had Perkins County, North Platte St. Pat’s, Paxton and Hershey High Schools signaling attendance, as well as CCS. She didn’t know how many students would participate.
Bauerle hoped to have five or six CCS students ready for competition.
Awards will be presented about 3 p.m., Bauerle said.
The tournament is open to the public. Spectators are asked to enter classrooms between speeches so as not to disrupt the speakers.
