Three Chase County Schools high school students are getting excited about their plans for next June. Lexi Howard, Darin Knobbe and Kristina Pflum will be playing in a band and singing in a choir that will tour England, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, France, Italy and Switzerland.
They will be part of the Nebraska Ambassadors of Music, a tour begun in 2001 by Dr. Warren Olfort of North Dakota State University.
Students were chosen for the band and chorus by teacher recommendation and the ensemble’s instrumentation needs, according to band teacher Agnes Strand.
They are among 250 top high school musicians from North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska chosen.
The three will receive their music in February so that they can begin practicing. Prior to the trip, which begins June 6, they will practice as an entire band and chorus for a few days in Fremont, Neb.
The trip will last 16 days, with a cost of about $6,000  per student.
